Hyundai will also offer some off-road-oriented features such as a center differential lock and hill-descent control. It also provides more rear torque by default when put in the truck's sport mode. That all-wheel drive system varies the torque split front and rear based on acceleration, cornering and tire slip. Both powertrains come standard with front-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive is an option. Available as an option is a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder making 275 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque paired with a dual-clutch eight-speed automatic that comes with paddle shifters. The Santa Cruzs bed measures 52.1 inches long and 53.9 inches wide, with 42.7 inches of space between the wheel wells. It's coupled to a conventional eight-speed automatic transmission. The 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz is one cute ute. As standard, it comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder making 190 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. Yes, there are two engine options for the Santa Cruz. The standard naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine will let you pull 3,500 pounds of trailer, too, and the turbo version has a tow rating of 5,000 pounds. As for how much you can carry, the Santa Cruz has a total payload capacity of 1,748 pounds, but only 660 of those pounds can be in the bed. The bed also features an available built-in roll-top tonneau cover, which expands the covered, locked cargo capacity substantially. It has an in-floor trunk like the Honda Ridgeline, though Hyundai hasn't said exactly how big it is. The Santa Cruz makes up for the small bed with some handy storage features. At the top of the bed, the length is four feet. It goes inward at the bottom, giving that 4.3-foot number. And that brings up the other odd fact that the edge of the bed by the cab isn't a flat vertical slab. This should make it more maneuverable around town, though the small size means a comparatively small bed. It splits the difference between the two in width. Compared to trucks such as the Nissan Frontier and Toyota Tacoma, it's between 10 and 17 inches shorter in length, and overall height is 3 to 4 inches lower. Their first model is going to rival Ford Maverick, the smallest pickup in the market. It's also still small. The company is building up the reputation, but it is a long way to go before they can challenge top truckmakers. The 2023 Hyundai Santa Cruz is still a new model in the market. Still, paying $42,000 for a unibody pickup is not an easy pill to swallow if you ask truckers. It is also safer than other models thanks to advanced systems the company deploys here. That includes a larger touchscreen display, surround-view monitor, leather seats, more USB ports, ventilated front buckets, navigation and Bose audio. However, the trim level is packed with the most advanced options the lineup is offering. The top of the range model is the 2023 Hyundai Santa Cruz Limited. The package also adds AWD, Activity package, LED lights and dual-zone climate control. The SEL Premium costs nearly $10,000 more, mostly thanks to the turbocharged engine. Color options are the same, and the package is $1,200 higher than it was used to be. The SEL adds heated mirrors and front seats and lockable cargo bed. A good thing is that some features, such as blind-spot monitors are now standard all across the lineup. The price bumped up by $1,000 and now it starts at $25,500. The entry-level package offers six colors: Sage Gray, Phantom Black, Ice White, Hampton Gray, Blue Stone and Mojave Sand. The engine delivers 191 hp and 181 lb-ft of torque. Besides the turbo-four engine for upper grades, a 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated configuration is there for the SE and SEL packages. There are four trim levels available for this truck. The price of the Santa Cruz Night Edition starts from $35,800. The interior is the same as for other trim levels, with all the updates the 2023 YM is bringing. Not only that, but other parts are revisited for the Night model, such as bumpers and wheels. The all-black styling is making the pickup more aggressive. In a matter of fact, you won’t find a cheaper configuration with a 2.5-liter mill producing 280 hp and 310 lb-ft. The new model is coming with the turbocharged engine. So, it won’t be impossible to see such a setup for the pickup truck. Plus, the carmaker is launching more SUVs and crossovers with hybrid drivetrains. Well, the architecture allows an easier implementation of such a technology. Another interesting speculation is drawing attention – the 2023 Hyundai Santa Cruz hybrid truck.
